AI SKILLS ASSESSMENT GUIDE

AI skills assessment should measure the work around the model.

Access to an AI tool is not the same as reliable AI-enabled work. The useful signal is whether a person can frame the task, inspect outputs, catch errors, follow constraints and stay responsible for the final result.

Task framingCan the operator turn an ambiguous request into a workable objective?
VerificationDo they check output instead of treating model confidence as truth?
JudgmentCan they choose when AI helps and when human review matters more?
AccountabilityThe operator remains responsible for the submitted result.
01 / PROBLEM

Why AI fluency is hard to verify from a résumé.

AI tools are now easy to access, so claiming familiarity with them tells an employer very little about the quality of the resulting work. Two people can use the same model and produce very different outcomes because their task framing, verification habits and judgment differ.

An AI skills assessment should therefore observe decisions around AI-assisted work rather than reward vocabulary about models. The assessment can ask whether the operator notices unsupported claims, preserves constraints, checks source material and knows when an output needs escalation or human review.

Not prompt trivia

Knowing terminology is not the same as producing reliable work with AI in the loop.

Not anti-AI

Mandorka allows tool assistance. The assessment focuses on whether the final decisions remain responsible and verifiable.

02 / MEASUREMENT

What can an AI-assisted work assessment observe?

The exact dimensions depend on the work track, but useful observations often include verification, instruction following, judgment, communication and error handling. These are operational behaviors that matter whether the model is excellent or mediocre.

Mandorka's AI Operations Control track, for example, presents decisions about catching AI-related mistakes before they become downstream work errors. The result reflects performance in that bounded simulation, not a universal label of 'AI expert'.

Verification behavior

Does the person inspect claims, inputs and constraints before accepting an output?

Error containment

Can they recognize when an AI-generated result should be corrected, rejected or escalated?

Instruction discipline

Do they preserve the actual task requirements instead of following an attractive but irrelevant output?

Communication

Can they explain a decision clearly enough for another person to review it?

03 / INTEGRITY

AI-native assessment needs different integrity assumptions.

Trying to pretend AI does not exist can make an assessment less representative of modern knowledge work. Mandorka instead assumes tools may assist and keeps responsibility with the operator.

That changes what integrity means. The platform protects the assessment model and answer keys, randomizes the work sample and records the completed result, while the participant remains accountable for the choices they submit.

Tool use can be allowed

The relevant question is whether the person can use tools without surrendering judgment.

Scoring remains controlled

Authoritative answer mappings stay server-side so the assessment does not publish its own solution key.

04 / HIRING

Use AI assessment as evidence, not as an AI-hiring oracle.

A role that uses AI should still be evaluated against the work the role requires. AI Operations Control evidence may be useful for an AI-enabled operations role, but it should not automatically stand in for unrelated technical, legal or domain expertise.

Employers can verify a WorkProof, inspect the assessment version and then combine that evidence with interviews, portfolio work and other role-specific evaluation.

FAQ

AI skills assessment questions

Does Mandorka ban AI during AI skills assessment?

No. Mandorka is designed for AI-assisted work and may allow tools to assist. The participant remains responsible for the submitted decisions and result.

Is AI skills assessment just a prompting test?

No. Prompting can be part of AI-enabled work, but Mandorka focuses on job-relevant decisions such as verification, instruction following, judgment and error containment.

Does a strong AI WorkProof mean someone is an AI expert?

No. A WorkProof is evidence of performance in a defined assessment track and version. It should not be expanded into claims the assessment did not measure.
